Let’s talk about campus choice awards. It has been a fortnight since the event happened and some of the fears expressed here came to pass. The event was held in the school auditorium and had a mask themed touch. After a few strolls in the auditorium however, only 2 ladies could be seen wearing masks. So what happened to that?
Current Mr. USIU-Africa, David Mbehi was also in the house
The event was attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs Professor Ruthie Rono alongside faculty members and former Kenya Sevens Rugby Head Coach Benjamin Ayimba.

Other performances featured Kenyan rapper Khaligraph who was treated to a listening session setting as students chose to sit and listen to Ndugu Omolo perform his club bangers and sweat solo.
The hosts for the night were Chuck thee Entertainer(Chuck Gituro) and King Archie(Sharon Achieng) pictured above.

What is still surprising is the lack of student participation in this event. For the last two years, the event has failed to attract student attendance and it begs the question; Is it worth it?
USIU-Africa hosts many events in the school calendar but only two have overwhelming attendance: Culture Week & Mr. & Miss USIU-Africa. These events have so much hype in them. Students prepare a semester forehand; get that dress ready, prepare that cultural attire and so forth. But when it comes to academic events, we perform poorly. Organizers have to offer freebies just to get student interest. Take for instance did you know about a Student Research Fair held this semester? Right.
